The Writing Process – Part 1

4 Dec, 2014 Book Writing

If you plan to become a good writer then the first thing that you should concentrate on is the writing process. It is one of the stages of book writing that requires a lot of concentration and organization otherwise everything could go haywire. If you have made a plan for the writing process then you should stick to it.

Although the stages in the writing process may vary from person to person but most of the stages are in common. A detailed writing process would start off with research. It is very important to gather ideas about the subject of the book first and then put all the bits and pieces together towards the end. Research may also be conducted if required. So once the research is complete, the next step is to create the first draft. After that is done one has to proofread the draft just in case some ideas have been missed out and this is where the editing process comes into the picture.

At this juncture, some people prefer to join a critique group in order to start critiquing but it is really up to you as to how you want to tackle the writing process. Some even prefer to create a second draft and edit it. If you have a critique group you can ask them for their feedback on your draft or just get a friend or a family member to give you honest feedback. It is important to give them time to go through it and wait for their response. Once you have that, it is important to think about the positive criticisms that you’ve received and you can apply any changes if you feel that it is necessary.
