Five Ways to Carpe Diem Today

Carpe diem. Seize the day.

It is a simple truth with extraordinary power.

Each and every day we have the opportunity to make a difference, make a change, leave a legacy, impact the world, and live our purpose.

When is the last time you lived a day to its full potential?

When was the last day you truly “seized”?

In each of us, we have the power to seize the day in big and small ways. You can’t change the world in a day, but you can make a difference with even the tiniest action.

How to Make the Most of Each Day:

1. Tell someone you care.

The most important things in my life are my relationships: with my husband, children, parents, family, friends, peers, colleagues and so on.

With that understanding, I prioritize my relationships above all else. I never hesitate to put work on the back burner if it means helping a loved on in a time of need.

Commit to being there, always — not just times of need. Reconnect with a loved one TODAY and let them know you’re there.

Send a quick note. Give them a call. Send a funny photo. Express love and gratitude. Give the love you want in return!

2. Create.

There is no limit to the possibilities of creation.

Creation is tangible and intangible. You can create love by cooking your family a meal. You can also create an opportunity by connecting contacts. Or, you can even create a book by sitting down RIGHT NOW and just starting to write.

However, the biggest obstacle to creation is self-doubt. So, overcome the obstacle and don’t be afraid to create!

Put something out there you want to see in the world: whether it’s a book, company, service, product or good energy.

3. Align your priorities.

Knowing your priorities and living them are two vastly different experiences!

Are you really living your priorities?

Reevaluate your priorities. Perhaps they are being challenged by your current circumstances in life.

How can you redirect your energies to align with your priorities?

Saying you want to be a writer and that it is your priority for 2018 is only half the battle. Take action! Make it happen!

4. Move on.

Whatever you’re stewing over, let it go! If it’s in the past, leave it there. Even if it’s in the future, wait for it without letting it dictate your wellbeing.

If you can’t change it, release it and move on. Don’t waste another second missing out on the NOW!

The future will never come because all you have is the present moment. Start living it!

5. Be brave.

Nothing that was ever worth achieving came easily. Life is not without fear and uncertainty. Being brave means facing these truths every day, without giving up.

So take fear and throw it out the window! Embrace action. Know what you want, what you want to achieve and what needs to get done to achieve it.

If there is something you need to say to someone, say it NOW. If there is a pending task you’ve been putting off, get it done!

Most of all, there’s no better time to be your best self than TODAY.

What action will you take today? Action doesn’t require an invitation — just do it!
