6 Important Lessons We Can Learn From Children

18 Jan, 2017 Personal Development

Through the honest, innocent eyes of a child, anything is possible. As we get older, it’s sometimes hard to believe we were children once, too!

Imagine if you were to embrace life with childlike wonder. What would the possibilities be?

This week, I invite you to take these six important lessons to transform:

  • Your writing
  • Your business
  • Your interactions with others
  • Your overall perspective on life

1. Every Day Is Full of New Opportunity

Children have the remarkable ability to see opportunity in each new day. Whatever happened the day before, doesn’t linger like a gray cloud.

Take each day as it comes and marvel in the possibility of a new, fresh day.

2. Be Endlessly Fearless

Children are endlessly seeking new challenges; climbing a tall tree, speeding down a hill on their bike, racing their friends on the playground.

They have no fear! It’s almost as if they’re invincible. Embrace challenge and adversity; fall down, scrape your knee, then get back up and keep going!

3. Dream Big

Children are incredibly ambitious. They want to be astronauts, firefighters, professional athletes, doctors, lawyers…

Take on greater ambition in your career and writing. Who says you can’t be a successful entrepreneur or best-selling author?

Set your goals ridiculously high and never stop dreaming.

4. Value Friendships, Above All

Friendship becomes even more important in adulthood. Nurture your network of friends and colleagues.

Actively seek out opportunities to support those you care for, without expectation of reciprocation.

5. Get Creative and Messy!

Get some dirt on your hands! Don’t be afraid to get a little messy. Within your mess, you may find creative freedom or a new outlet for expression.

If you’re a writer, like me, try new forms of writing, such as journaling, short stories or poetry.

6. Be a Storyteller

Children are notorious storytellers, and they really know how to embellish! As an author, ignite your writing with imagery, passion and experience— have your reader hanging on to your every word.

Being an adult doesn’t mean you have to stop being a child, too. Reconnect with your wonder, fire and spunk for life, and let it seep into your writing.

I Can Help!

Are you ready to get your book OUT of your head, ON to paper and IN to the hands that need it most?  Let’s get started!
