make your goals public

1 Nov, 2014 Productivity

make your goals public. Telling others what you want to do with your project, with your life, with your business, with your passion, this will hold you accountable.

Accountability is so critical. Whether you ask a friend at work, whether you ask somebody in your family, whether you hire a coach like me, or anyone else out there, you have to have somebody that’s going to hold you accountable.

We don’t procrastinate because we don’t know what to do. We know what to do, but nobody’s standing there holding us accountable. Or, maybe they’re not even cheering us on.

So, find somebody, surround yourself with people that are going to bring you up instead of bringing you down, and then make a pact with your friend and yourself, and just help one another. If you want to set a goal to go jogging, meet somebody at the fitness center.

It’s a lot easier to get out the door if you know they’re standing there waiting for you. Get an accountability partner. Disappointing yourself is one thing, but disappointing a friend is a whole other matter, so this will definitely help you get beyond that procrastination.
